Two public defences of doctoral dissertations took place in one week in our Department

On 12 November 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in room 305, building A-5 of Wrocław University of Science and Technology, Mr Mateusz Żychlewicz, Ph.D., defended his doctoral dissertation and, by decision of the Council of the Discipline of Automation, Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Space Technologies, was awarded the degree of Doctor of Engineering.

Translated dissertation title: ‘Application of recurrent neural networks in the control of a drive system with a complex mechanical part’. The dissertation was supervised by Marcin Kamiński, D.Sc., Ph.D. and the auxiliary supervisor was Piotr Derugo, Ph.D.

The reviewers of the dissertation were Tomasz Pajchrowski, D.Sc., Ph.D. from the Poznań University of Technology and Tomasz Tarczewski, D.Sc., Ph.D. from the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń.


Two days later, on 14 November 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in room 305, building A-5 of Wrocław University of Science and Technology, Mr Mateusz Krzysztofiak, Ph.D., defended his dissertation and, by the decision of the Council of the Discipline of Automation, Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Space Technologies, was awarded the degree of Doctor of Engineering in Engineering Science. Due to the high quality of the dissertation, the dissertation was also awarded, in accordance with the conclusions of the Reviewers.

The translated title of the dissertation: ‘Mathematical modelling methods in fault diagnosis of permanent magnet synchronous motors’. The dissertation was supervised by Grzegorz Tarchała, D.Sc., Ph.D. and the auxiliary supervisor was Maciej Skowron, Ph.D. More information about the dissertation can be found here.

The reviewers of the dissertation were Wojciech Pietrowski, D.Sc., Ph.D. of the Poznań University of Technology, Prof. Mariusz Jagieła, D.Sc., Ph.D. of the Opole University of Technology and Maciej Sułowicz, D.Sc., Ph.D. of the Kraków University of Technology.
